REID OF THIRD FOR ABERDEEN.
CLUB'S BIGGEST TRANSFER FEE.

It was officially announced last night by Mr William Philip, the chairman of the Aberdeen Football Club, that the services of Alec Reid, the outside right of the Third Lanark, had been secured for Pittodrie next season.
It has been known for some time that negotiations for the transfer of this player had been proceeding. Some time ago agreement on the amount of fee to be paid by Aberdeen to Third Lanark had been reached, but a hitch occurred owing to the demand made by the player. Now this difficulty has been got over, and Reid is an Aberdeen player.
The amount of transfer fee paid has not been divulged, but is understood to have been in the region of 1500. In any case, it is the highest the Aberdeen Club has ever paid for a player.
Reid, who is a player of ripe experience, joined Third Lanark from Airdrieonians three seasons ago. He has been a big success at Cathkin, and during the past two seasons was well in the running for international honours. At Pittodrie it is considered he will prove a worthy substitute for Alec Jackson, who was transferred to Huddersfield Town. Following upon the signing of Robert McDermid from Rangers and Queen of the South, Aberdeen have secured two well-known forwards within a week.

Alex. Reid, outside right of Aberdeen, has been transferred to Preston North End. The announcement, officially made yesterday, does not state the amount of the transfer fee, but it is understood to be considerable. Reid, who belongs to Bathgate, played for Airdrieonians and Third Lanark before joining the Aberdeen Club two years ago. He was chosen as reserve forward for the England v Scotland international played at Wembley four years ago, and he is the possessor of an Inter-League cap.
