Profile:
Full name: George Gardiner Scott.

Scored on his first team debut.

George volunteered for the RAF in 1941 and spent a period of his training in Canada. He returned to the United Kingdom in 1942 and was based at RAF Kinloss with Number 19 OTU. On the 26th July 1942, George was a member of the crew which took off in Whitley BD349 on a routine training flight. While in the Tain area the aircraft suffered engine failure, crashed and caught fire. The initial reports in the local press were that George was missing however, on the 15th August 1942 his death was confirmed. He had left behind a young widow whom he had married only 6 months previous. The body of 1117206 Sergeant Observer George Gardiner Scott was never found and he is commemorated on Panel 93 at the Runneymede Memorial.
