in January 1928 "The Bon-Accord" was suggesting that "Hector Lawson will have difficulty in regaining his place in the Dons' team if Willie Ross continues to play as well as he did against Queen's Park and Dundee."
Hector Lawson, the Aberdeen player, has, it is rumoured, signed for New Brighton, an English Third Division (Northern Section) club. Hector has been two seasons at Pittodrie. His first senior club was Rangers, but owing to the brilliance of Allan Morton, he was unable to get a regular place. He was ultimately transferred to Liverpool, but after a short stay with the Merseyside club he returned to Scotland and was for a time with Vale of Leven prior to coming to Pittodrie two years ago. Hector developed into a first rate half-back, and New Brighton, provided he steers clear of injuries, ought to get good service from him.
