Orion 1 - 0 Victoria United
Kick Off:    Shiach
Attendance: 0
Venue: Cattofield, Aberdeen
The Orion and Victoria United met again at Cattofield Park to replay the tie in the first round of the Rhodesia Cup. It will be remembered that the tie was commenced at the beginning of the season, but it was an evening match, and darkness prevented thegame being finished. The result when the game was stopped was 2 goals to 1 in favour of the Orion. This fact had the result of making the interest in the replayed game intense, and there was a good attendance of spectators. The teams were:- Victoria United: R. Murray; J. Bremner, R. Craig; Kitson, A. Murray, R. Ritchie; Knowles, Duncan, Burnett, Ferries, G. Ritchie. Orion: Ritchie; Willox, Brebner; Currie, Campbell, Esplin; Prophet, Wilson, Low, Thomson, Shiach. Referee, Mr. Arthur Watt, Melrose F.C.

The pitch was covered in a thin coating of snow, and owing to the frost during the night, the ground was very hard. The game opened with the Orion playing to the East, and the Victoria United were soon pressing forward to their goal. The United made a good start, but Brebner, the half-back of the Orion, did good service. A fine rush down the field by the Orion did nothing further than keep the followers of the United in suspense for a minute or two. From the kick-off, however, the ball was soon back, and one of the forwards let a splendid opportunity go by. The scene of play was suddenly changed to the other end of the field, and the United looked dangerous. Several attempts were made to score, but the ball invariably went high, and the Orion custodian was equal to those that came his way. Give and take play followed, the shooting continuing to be wide and high. The Orion had a good run and Prophet, who had made some good tries, shot for goal. The shot was a low one, and Murray ket it out, but Shiach immediately returned the ball, which landed in the net. Some fast play followed. A splendid opportunity fell to the United, but Burnett missed it.

The second period opened with some good runs, several of which resulted in testing Murray's powers, and showed some interesting play at United's goalmouth. The Blues came away, however, and bombarded Ritchie's goal in turn, but failed to make any impression on the custodian. From end to end the ball went in quick succession the ball went, but the United's forwards played a poor game, and this kept the ball in dangerous proximityto their goal during the latter half. Murray was bombarded with shots, but he cleared all, with great credit to himself.
