Young Dons Win

Hearts A Beaten at Pittodrie.

There was little of the end of the season atmosphere about the Alliance League fixture between Aberdeen A and Hearts A at Pittodrie last night.
Between three and four thousand spectators saw the Pittodrie eleven gain victory by the odd goal in three.

The Aberdeen Reserves were the better team throughout and fully deserved their win.
Galloway, the new left winger, secured from Raith Rovers this week, made a promising debut and favourably impressed the spectators.
Hearts were first to be dangerous, and smart work on the left resulted in Cumming saving from Marshall. Following a spell of even play, Aberdeen got going and Warnock cut in to bring Crosskey into action. Dickie let McDermid through, and the keeper saved on the post.
Two smart centres by Galloway had the Hearts' goal in danger, but the defence rose to the occasion.
The young Dons were, if anything, superior, but, like Hearts, they lacked penetrative power. In a Tynecastle raid Miller sent across the goal, and at the other end Crosskey made a brilliant save from McDermid and then from Dickie.
Towards the interval Aberdeen became very lively, and the Hearts' citadel was in imminent danger of falling.
Seven minutes from half-time Aberdeen deservedly took the lead, through Paterson, from a corner.

Second Half.

The Hearts' goal ran a narrow escape on the resumption, King clearing from Paterson, with Crosskey out of his charge. The visiting keeper distinguished himself when he made a onehanded save from Warnock.
About twenty minutes after the restart Aberdeen increased their lead. From a corner by Galloway McDermid headed goalwards, and although King kicked clear the ball was over the line.
Ten minutes later Hearts reduced the leeway, Marshall nodding home a cross from Jaap.
Galloway was always prominent, and from two of his passes Crosskey saved from Warnock and David.
Paterson almost increased the home total when he headed a Donald free kick, but Crosskey saved at the expense of a corner.
