Easy For Dons
Aberdeen's reserve side gained a comfortable win over an Aberdeen Junior Select in their annual encounter at Pittodrie last night. The juniors made a plucky fight of it, but training told the end. and the seniors finished much the fresher side. The Young Dons held a decided advantage in the second half, but their forwards all too frequently fell into an offside trap.
The game was only three minutes old when Smith put the reserve side ahead. Doig palmed out a drive by Williams and the winger had nothing to do but tap the ball into the net. The Englishman used his speed to good advantage in the fourteenth minute when he ran clear to give Doig no chance.
After this the juniors bucked up and Pirie headed a lovely goal from a free kick well placed by Donald. Their success was short-lived, however as Bain slammed home a glorious goal for the homesters in the next minute.
Before half-time Carrol reduced the leeway with splendid goal. Pirie fastened on to clearance by Simpson and sent the ball into the centre for Carrol to lob the ball neatly over Hendry's head into the net.
Smith's speed was a telling factor in the second half. He ran through to smack the ball into the net soon after the restart, and later he eluded Simpson to lay the ball on for Pattillo, who had no difficulty in netting. The juniors missed several chances before Smith accepted a pass from Pattillo near the close to run through and leave Doig no chance with a fierce shot.
