No thrills, no frills and no points
Match programmeDavid Lilley came back to haunt Aberdeen again at Firhill in a match the Dons fans could instantly forget. The Dons were pretty woeful in the first half and found themselves a goal behind to a Lilley strike. Although there was a slight improvement after the break very little clear cut chances were created. Partick added a second in the 79th minute and despite a late consolation from Leon Mike the Dons once again failed to record a win in Glasgow.

Thistle kicked off and they created the first half chance in the 2nd minute when Britton outfoxed McGuire to steer a shot inches wide of Kjaer's left hand post. Two minutes later Hardie tried his luck from about 40 yards, but Kjaer saved comfortably. The home side were dominating at this stage with Kjaer being kept very busy and being forced to tip a Thistle corner to safety in the 7th minute. A minute later the Dons had their first glimpse of goal when Billio hit an effort from the edge of the area, but it didn't trouble Arthur.

The Thistle defence got themselves in a bit of mess in the 14th minute and conceded the Dons' first corner. From the set-play Leon Mike hit a fierce drive over the bar. A minute later another error created another opening, but Mackie and Mike failed to combine to take advantage. Aberdeen had weathered the early storm and it was the home side's turn to look shaky at the back.

Thistle were still lively however and Kjaer had to look sharp in the 22nd minute to cut out the umpteenth high ball. Seconds later Burns hit a fierce drive, which thankfully slipped wide. The Dons carved out their best chance in the 28th minute when Fabiano released Mackie. Just as the striker was set to pull the trigger Craigan blocked the effort. Partick should have taken the lead on the half-hour mark when Burns hit a low shot, which Kjaer did well to tip clear. The ball fell into the path of Hardie, but he could only hit the side netting from close in.

The goal was only delayed by two minutes and unbelievably it was David Lilley who fired home a cross for only his second goal of the season (no prizes for guessing who he scored his first against at Pittodrie). Kjaer had looked uncomfortable for most of the match and was unable to take goal kicks. In the 38th minute he was finally forced to come off, clearly not fully recovered from his hamstring injury. Preece was to be an able replacement. The Dons did little in the remainder of the first half as they struggled to get their play flowing in what could only be described as a poor first half.

Aberdeen created the first opening of the second half when Mike played a neat cutback into the path of Billio. Unfortunately, the midfielder's shot was blocked. A minute later Lilley became the first booking of the match when he tripped Mackie. The Dons were looking livelier and Billio went close in the 54th minute when Arthur somehow managed to turn his shot round the post more by good fortune than design. A minute later he had to deal with a powerful Deloumeaux free kick and once more he could only tip it round the post.

In the 65th minute Scott Michie replaced a struggling Nicholas Fabiano as the visitors pressed for the equaliser. Once again the build up play was good, but the final ball was lacking. While the Dons had more possession, Thistle were still a danger on the break and Preece was forced into a fine save in the 73rd minute. In a final roll of the dice Thornley replaced Derek Young in an attempt to salvage something from the afternoon.

Within a minute however Partick sealed the game when Hardie fired in a second goal. Billio had a pot at goal in the 81st minute, but Arthur was able to claw the ball away. The Dons were thrown a lifeline in the 84th minute when a speculative Deloumeaux shot was blocked and fell nicely for Mike. The striker showed nice composure before firing past Arthur. It was to be too little too late however as the Dons Glasgow jinx continued.
