Dons Unbeaten in 7 And Are Off Bottom of League |
 |
Aberdeen moved off the bottom of the SPL after beating Dundee 3-1 at Dens Park.
The first half was a poor show with neither teams creating many chances. The
biggest talking point was an early injury to Dundee's Steven Tweed who was replaced
by youngster David Bayne.
The second half started well for the Dons, and after 50 minutes they got
the breakthrough. Andy Dow scored after his bizarre effort found it's way past
the
helpless Dundee keeper. Just after that, Dow saved the Dons when he cleared
a netbound shot off the line. In the 60th minute, a great pass from Derek Whyte
gave Winters the opportunity to cross, he picked out Arild Stavrum who made
it
2-0 with a nice finish. 5 minutes later, Paul Bernard picked up his 5th goal
of the season to put the game beyond any reasonable doubt.
Dundee continued to put pressure on the Don's defence and came close on one
or two occasions to finding past ex-Scotland international Jim Leighton.
The home
side managed a consolation goal in the 87th minute when youngster David
Bayne capitalized on a mix-up between skipper Derek Whyte and goalkeeper Jim
Leighton
to slot the ball into the net, making it 3-1. Dundee had one last effort
on goal, but Leighton saved well to help maintain the Don's 7 match unbeaten
run.
