Aberdeen met Dundee at dens park yesterday in the Robertson cup, and were defeated by 2 goals to 1.

Dundee played against a strong, gusty wind, accompanied by showers of rain, but had the best of the play at the outset. The shooting, however, was uncertain. Steven tried and failed. Aberdeen pressed, but were equally unsuccessful, Soye shooting past. Some headwork by Aberdeen in front of Dundee's goal almost succeeded, Brewster just sending the ball over. Aberdeen's forwards were bringing the ball down all right, but were shooting at too long distances. A corner from Dundee just failed. Main and made a good try, but Balfour was sort Cumming and fisted out. Neither goalkeeper had as yet had much to do, and the game so far was quiet. There was almost a goal, the ball was being run up by the Dundee right wing, and the Aberdeen keeper rushed out. He missed the ball, which got in front of the goal before he returned, but in the scrimmage it was cleared. McIntosh had a good bit of tactics, and sent the ball well in. It was returned, and Hogg got on and shot, but missed. A corner for Aberdeen was headed into the goalkeepers hands and cleared.

The ground team began the second half with a corner, which came to nothing. The ball was then shot in by Philip, which Greig just saved. Dundee a livened up, and there was some brighter play, but the shooting was still defective. Hogg had a fine try, and the keeper saved by throwing the ball over the goal. In the corner which followed a cleverly cleared. Soye, for Aberdeen, sent the ball over to the Dundee goal, but Walker, who got on, missed, and the ball went past. From a corner Montgomery shot clean into the Aberdeen net, scoring the first point of the game. Another corner almost had the same result. Dundee were now having the best of the game, and the Aberdeen goalkeeper was kept busy. Aberdeen put up a stiff defence. A brief visit was paid to the Dundee goal, but the ball again came back, and Greig had some hot moments. Montgomery played well, but Greig was able for him. Dundee notched a second point through Mcintosh. From well out the right half kicked in a beauty, which Greig allowed to slip between his hands.
Aberdeen opened their account through Colman, the right back. They were granted a free-kick for a foul by Wall, and Colman took the kick. For some reason not very clear the referee ordered the kick to be retaken. This time the back made no mistake, and the leather found the net, but Balfour well beaten.
