Keith Tough Test for Dons |
 |
This game, played last Sunday afternoon, was the testimonial for long serving
Keith defender Neil Gibson and with no SPL card, the Dons, with Gardner Speirs
in charge, were able to send a strong squad to Kynoch Park.
However, the Press and Journal Highland League champions, despite having played
a league match at Wick twenty four hours earlier, made Aberdeen fight all the
way and in the end were very unlucky not to get at least a share of the spoils.

|
Both keepers, Ian Thain and Dave Preece, were in fine form, each producing
several top class saves throughout the ninety minutes, although the woodwork
also came to the rescue of both. Dons youngster Calum Bett saw his header come
back off the crossbar in the first half and at the other end, Derek Nicol shot
against the post from fifteen yards.

|
The goal which settled matters finally came with just a minute remaining when
Andy Dow, on as a second half substitute, found Robbie WINTERS, with the in-form
striker making no mistake from fifteen yards out.
