The game opened with Arbroath pressing, but Aberdeen left wing was in fine form, and Toman got the ball to Mckinley, who brought the goalkeeper out. Still Arbroath pressed, and Dorward beat Mutch. Macdonald was playing a good game, and the Arbroath custodian had frequently to handle well directed shots from the right winger. Before half-time Robertson scored for the locals.

The second half opened quietly. The Aberdeen forwards were weak in front of goal, but clever in the open. Toman getting possession, shot in the direction of the goal, and McKinley, who was lying handy, scored with his head. During the closing stages Aberdeen's goal was in a state of siege, but the defence held out, under was no further scoring.

The A's at Arbroath.

Aberdeen sent through a fairly strong lot of reserves on Saturday to Gayfield for their Northern League fixture. As is often the case where a lot of new experiments are being tried, the men take a little time to get their foothold. Before the Aberdonians had settled to their game Arbroath had on a couple of goals, and well for them they did so. The visitors were two goals down a half-time, but were hardly value for that on play. Bucking up in the second period, Arbroath had to play defence and leave attack alone, for they were hard put to it till McKinley scored There was a momentary lull, but try as they could Aberdeen could not get through again, and a hard game ended 2-1 in favour of Arbroath.
