A Tale of Two Halves
A very strong west wind made play difficult in the Reserve League game last week at Pittodrie. In the first half the visitors, playing towards the sea, pressed for most of the forty-five minutes, but thanks to a stout fight from the Dons' defence, Hibs had only one goal to show for all their efforts. The play continued at the sea-end after the break, but it was the Dons who were striving to get goals that proved very elusive. It was only in the closing minutes that Jim Clunie, operating from the centre-forward position, headed the goal that gave the Young Dons a point. Hibs "A" proved themselves to be a good side - their defence never panicked and when they did manage to make ground against the gale, their efforts were purposeful. The Aberdeen Reserves played hard but were hardly the smooth-working combine seen so often at Pittodrie.
