Rangers 'A' Win At Pittodrie
Rangers' reserves were too good for Aberdeen A at Pittodrie, where the visitors carried off the Alliance points by two goals to one.
Following clever play on the wings Rangers took the lead when Smith followed up to meet a ball that rebounded from the crossbar after Conlin had shot. Aberdeen had more of the game towards the interval, and following a free-kick by Dickie, Oliphant equalised close in.
The second half was vigorously contested and there was a tendency for tempers to be ruffled at times. As in the first period Rangers were more methodical and more dangerous in attack but the home defence, especially McHale and Falloon, were in good form. Midway through the period Rangers took the lead, Smith heading through from a cross by Nicholson.
Aberdeen made many spirited rallies but their forwards could not get the better of a sound Rangers' defence.
