Formed in 1903, Aberdeen Football Club made an early start to its senior career in Scottish Football in the Northern League and a season later in the Second Division. For those two seasons the Club had to participate in the Qualifying Cup competition as the team strove to reach the Scottish Cup proper. They achieved their aim in both seasons, but in the second did it in spectacular style with a sound victory over an experienced Renton side at neutral Dens Park to claim the Club's first National trophy.
This is the story of those two campaigns as seen through the eyes of the Edwardian Press Corps whose privilege it was to record the early adventures of Aberdeen FC and paint the picture of football in hard times.
