A big favourite at Pittodrie, Dod [real name: George] was a strapping pivot whom, when he went to play in England, was described as being "particularly Scottish in style and movement". His move to Everton on the 2nd January 1920 brought a transfer fee of £1500, including £500 to the player. This was easily a record for any Scottish player up to that time and followed a bid of £2000 by Everton in December 1919 which had been turned down.
In the 1914-1918 war he seved in France with the 15th Division
Brewster was transferred to Everton in January 1920 for what was then a record fee for a Scottish player. Estimates of the fee varied between £1500 and (more likely) £2400 of which Brewster was paid £500. He later moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers and then Lovell's Athletic and Wallasey United.
He left the UK for the USA on 8th March 1924 on the Cunard Liner Astoria, sailing from Liverpool. After a spell playing for Brooklands Athletic in New York in 1924 reportedly to take up an appointment with Brooklyn Wanderers. He returned to Scotland to become player/manager at Inverness Caledonian. Died - Wigan, 18th November 1964
