"George McNicol, his [Jim Robertson] partner, is the ex Port Glasgow player who joined the ranks of Aberdeen this season. He has participated in both first and second class Scottish League football."
Source: Aberdeen Evening Gazette 26th November 1904
McNicoll has an important place in the history of Aberdeen FC as the man who scored the vital goals at Dens Park to ensure Aberdeen's first national trophy - the Scottish Qualifying Cup. He was also the scorer of the first penalty kick awarded to Aberdeen in the First Division on the 16th of December 1905. The boots that he wore on the Qualifying Cup Final are still with the Club as part of The Aberdeen Collection.
