Local player who was another that emerged from the successful Banks O' Dee Junior club. Taylor scored the goal that brought European football to Pittodrie after a sensational last minute winner over Rangers at Ibrox. Taylor was also on the mark in the Dons first European tie against Reykjavik and he went on to play a vital role in the Aberdeen side that just missed out on the league title in 1971. I April 1974, manager Jimmy Bonthrone put Ian on the transfer list and he moved to Motherwell.
