Although signed in January, on the recommendation of Bobby Clark, John did not arrive at Pittodrie until July 1992 after he had graduated from university. John was captain of the reserves on many occasions but left Pittodrie in 1994. After parting company with the Dons and after two serious knee operations John moved into the field of education and after a spell in the Philippines heading up two International schools, returned to England to head up the Clifton College prep school.
