Profile: |
Jim saw playing with an Edinburgh juvenile club,Royston Rosebery when scouted by Aberdeen. After playing a trial for the Dons reserves against St Mirren on 19th August 1964, Jim was signed up by Tommy Pearson and Davie Shaw as an understudy for Doug Coutts. The starting pay was £17 per week plus bonuses for wins and draws.
During his time in Aberdeen Jim shared digs with Ken Ronaldson in Sunnyside Gardens, a handy ten minute walk from Pittodrie.
Eddie Turnbull's arrival and clear-out of players led to Jim going on trial with Swindon Town, but it didn't work out. He returned to Edinburgh and joined Scottish & Newcastle Breweries. He was Transport Manager when he left after 28 yrs to join a Midlothian central heating & insulation company as General Manager and retired at 60.
