Kelly was appointed Captain of AFC Women from the first match after amalgamation and her experience and influence in the team were crucial in their rise from SWFL Division 1 North to SWPL 1 in the space of three years, including through their first season in SWPL1. She also became a pundit on Red TV.
On 13th May 2022 it was announced that Kelly would be hanging up her boots after the final match of the season.
