The Whites Wore Red
The Dundee team engaged with Aberdeen in a friendly match last night at Pittodrie Grounds. A stiff breeze blew across the field, but otherwise the weather was all that could be desired. As both club's colours are white, the local team donned red jerseys. Neither of the teams were at full strength. Dundee won the toss, and Aberdeen kicked off towards the city, against the wind. The homesters immediately got down, but the backs cleared. Dundee had now a look in, but the ball went over. End-to-end play followed, and if anything Aberdeen had most of the play, but poor shooting robbed them of several likely goals. By good passing tactics the strangers got into range, and J. Steven opened the scoring. Nettled at this reverse, the homesters now took up the running but the ball went anywhere rather than into the net. Once more Dundee got down, and from a scrimmage close in, McDurno tipped the ball into the net. Half-time result: Dundee, 2; Aberdeen, 0.

On reŽsuming the Whites were the first to become aggressive, but the sphere went over. The homesters now rushed the ball down the field, but Milne, with an open goal before him, shot high over the cross-bar. The homesters continued to show some improvement in their combination, and Stewart was called upon several times. A fine run down the left wing by Steven looked dangerous, but Mackie managed to avert disaster just in time. From end to end the battle raged, but no further scoring took place, and a keenly-contested game ended as follows: Dundee, 2; Aberdeen, 0.
