Div 1 (Old)
Aberdeen 4 - 1 Kilmarnock
Kick Off:  5:15 PM   Leggat 14, Yorston 17, Leggat 26, Wishart 55.       McKay 64
Attendance: 16,500
Venue: Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen
Aberdeen decisively beat Kilmarnock at Pittodrie Park. The game was virtually won and lost after less than 30 minutes' play in which Aberdeen scored three times and Murray failed to score from a penalty kick for Kilmarnock.
Kilmarnock did not take advantage of unsteadiness in the home defence in the early stages and their forwards' scoring efforts were invariably well of the mark indeed. It was their left half, McKay, who scored their goal in the second half.
The Aberdeen forwards were in their best form, and the speed of Buckley, Leggat, and Hather frequently had the Kilmarnock defence in difficulties. Apart from his lapse when he failed to hold McKay's scoring shot Morrison gave a bright display as deputy for Martin. Caldwell had a sound game at left back, and Glen was outstanding in the half-back line.
Brown could not be blamed for any of Aberdeen's goals and he and Dougan were best in the Kilmarnock defence. Flavell and - in the first half - Toner were the most enterprising of the visitors' forwards.
Leggat (in 13 minutes), Yorston (16), and Leggat (24) scored in the first half. Wishart scored in 69m minutes before McKay got Kilmarnock's goal.
