A Famous Victory |

The Dons delighted their supporters by their magnificent performance last Saturday. Never mind that "What happened in the second half" business or the critical "The Dons Panicked" report. Aberdeen in the first half played football that Hibs simply couldn't match and they stood up to a second half onslaught that had to be seen to be believed. Even so, as one Hibs director said, "The Dons near the end might quite easily have scored a fifth goal but for an amazing save by the Hibs goalkeeper." He shot out his foot, hoping for the best. By sheer luck the ball struck his toe and spun away for a corner. The match had everything and not a soul was seen to move until the final whistle. Aberdeen might have had a second half penalty when the Hibs goalkeeper was dispossessed. Were eyes looking through "biassed" spectacles that seemed to see Wren grabbing the legs of the Dons' right winger? Hibs deserve credit for a great fight back - but Aberdeen won, and won on their merits.
