Dons exit despite win |
 |
This was to be a frustrating night that almost emulated some of the great European nights that littered the eighties. With a three goal deficit to overcome against experienced European campaigners 13,000 turned up as the game kicked off in blizzard conditions. Frank Munro made it five goals in four European with a fierce volley in the 20th minute and Harry Melrose added a second 25 minutes from the end. Despite a huge effort the Dons couldn't find a decisive third to take the tie to extra time and the European adventure was over.
