This was just the tonic the home fans needed for although the Dons were the only undefeated side in Scotland and held the best defensive record, scoring goals particularly at Pittodrie was becoming a problem. When substitute Andy Gray equalised Arthur Graham's first half opener, Aberdeen looked as if they were heading for their fourth successive home league draw ? then Drew Jarvie entered into things. His unselfish running off the ball caused United all sorts of problems and it was fitting that he should set up Davie Robb with the crucial second goal. When he scored the third in the 76th minute it was simply the icing on the cake.
