The sight of former Dons favourite Joe Harper in a green and white shirt helped swell the crowd considerably as Aberdeen opened their league programme after a disastrous League Cup campaign. For 85 minutes Aberdeen were by far the better side and were unlucky to only hold a 2-1 lead then 'Wee Joe' intervened. First he sent a screamer of a free kick past Bobby Clark to equalise the scores then in the last minute his net bound shot was blocked but fell kindly for Alex Cropley to steal the 2 points. Harper was applauded off the field by the home support who obviously were in no hurry to end their love affair with him.
