Premier Division
Aberdeen 1 - 3 Dundee United
Kick Off:  3:00 PM   Scott.       Sturrock 22, Hegarty 45, Copland 67
Attendance: 5,500
Venue: Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen
The first ever Premier League meeting between the sides ended in disaster for Aberdeen, as this result saw them anchored at the bottom of the Table. In the second half, Joe Smith stupidly lashed out at United's substitute, Paul Hegarty and was given his marching orders. Worse followed: Dons' centre half Willie Young was substituted, promptly tore off his jersey in disgust and stormed out of Pittodrie. He never played for Aberdeen again.
