Stalemate against Saints |
 |
Aberdeen move up to 9th place in the SPL, after a dismal 0-0 draw at McDiarmid
Park tonight. Neither the Dons or St Johnstone really came close to scoring,
in fact the highlight of the game was the magnificent support from the Dons supporters.
Alex Di-Rocco had a great early chance after just 23 seconds, but he missed
when it looked easier to score.
Mohammed Sylla had the first real chance, after fifteen minutes of the game
he forced the first real save that Esson had to make. His effort didn't really
give
the young Don any trouble.
In the 28th minute Stavrum did well to leave Jim Weir for dead, but the big
Norwegian hitman was well challanged by Saints defender Mcluskey. One minute
later, Darren
Young had an effort on goal well saved by Alan Main. The effort was powerful,
but straight at Main.
There were no more real chances for either side in the first half, and
the teams went in at 0-0 at the interval.
In the 55th minute of the game, Alan Main spilled a Dons effort, but
both Di-Rocco and Young failed to hit the net.
3 minutes later, Sylla should have scored when he turned well, but his
shot failed to break the deadlock.
Robbie Winters did have the ball in the net, but he was well offside
before he hit the shot. The Dons final effort fell to Eoin Jess, on
78 minutes
he hit a
good effort, but it went inches wide.
