Aberdeen picked up a point at Rugby Park this afternoon, after the two teams
fought out an entertaining 0-0 draw. Aberdeen started well, but were unable to
turn possesion into goal opportunities. In fact it was the home side who had
the first chance of the match. Ally Mitchell came close with a long range drive
that clipped the bar and went off.
Minutes later Mitchell came close again, but this time the Don's defence combined
to block the Killie veteran's shot.
Kilmarnock came more and more into the game as it went on, and came close on
a few occasions. With the few chances that were landing to either side, it
wasn't looking likely that someone would score, and there were no real chances
until the last quarter of the game.
In the 75th minute, the Don's introduced youngster Chris Clark, and Darren
Young almost opened the scoring with a driving effort that went just past.
Moments later Ryan Esson made a wonder save, as Killie piled on the pressure
with Cocard and Mitchell coming close. Gordon Marshall also made some good
stops, denying the Don's another well earned three points. The game finished
0-0 and both teams go home with a point.
