Dons Earn Third Win in a Row |
 |
The Dons kept up their winning run with a convincing win over Motherwell at Fir
Park. Darren Mackie came close to opening the scoring after just five minutes,
but his effort was blocked by the Motherwell defence. Arild Stavrum had an opportunity
in the 15th minute, but despite having fifteen goals under his belt this season,
he put it wide.
Motherwell had their first chance to score in the 20th minute, but Kevin Twaddle's
excellent shot hit the crossbar.
Only a minute later Robbie Winters had a chance to score, but his effort went
wide of the left hand side of the goals. Stavrum hit a great shot in the 28th
minute, but his effort just went wide of the top corner of the Well goal. In
the 32nd minute, Aberdeen's pressure finally paid off, when Stavrum found the
net. Winters crossed, Darren Mackie laid it off to STAVRUM who fired home from
a tight angle.
Ryan Esson made a great save from Motherwell striker Derek Townsley. Stuart
Elliot crossed, Townsley should have scored but for the brilliant reflex
save by Esson.
There were more chances for both sides before ROBBIE WINTERS made it 2-0
in the 59th minute. He found himself with a good chance and he chipped Well
keeper
Connolly to make it 2-0.
Arild Stavrum and Thomas Solberg both came close with headers, but the score
remained 2-0, and the Dons picked up another 3 points, and their 3rd consecutive
win.
