match report 1903-04 fixture list
Aberdeen 1 - 3 Celtic
Kick Off:  6:00 PM   Mackie.       Peter Somers 7, Jimmy Quinn 12, Jimmy McMenemy 85.
Attendance: 2,000
Venue: Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen
The other holiday fixture between the Celtic and the Aberdeen was completely spoiled by the wretched weather. Had the day been a good one the gate money would have touched three figures, as it was it failed to reach 50. To play football under the conditions that prevailed was next to impossible, for the ground was in such a state that at times both players and the ball stuck in it. Neither beam put forth much effort, and the score 3-1 in favour of the Celtic is a fair index of the run of the play.

The Scottish Cup holders played Aberdeen at Pittodrie Park, Aberdeen, Yesterday. This holiday fixture attracted a crowd of about 2000 spectators, despite the fact that the weather was exceedingly unfavourable, a heavy rainfall having necessitated the postponement of the match till late in the afternoon. Seven minutes from the start Somers scored the first goal for the Celtic, and a second goal was added by Quinn before a third of the half-time period had expired. The local team stubbornly contested every inch of ground, but they were exceedingly unfortunate in shooting for goal, and at half-time the score was Celtic, two goals; Aberdeen, nothing. While the game was in progress rain again fell heavily, and the condition of the pitch was very heavy. Aberdeen played with much more spirit in the second half of the game, and a goal by Mackie was only one of several likely chances that fell to them. About five minutes before time, McMenemy scored a third goal for the Celtic, and the match ended ? Celtic, three goals; Aberdeen, one goal.
