"MATT" FORSYTH'S BENEFIT MATCH. WALTER JACKSON WINS SPRINT. |
 |
At Pittodrie Park, Aberdeen, last night fully 9000 spectators witnessed a most enjoyable match for the benefit of "Matt" Forsyth, Aberdeen's popular left back. A good exhibition of football that was not lacking in the competitive element resulted in the "Black and Gold" and "Whites" dividing eight goals. A number of noted internationalists took part, and the play was keen and exhilarating. While the humorous element was not neglected, the game was never farcical, and there was always sufficient of the competitive element to make it interesting.
The scorers were:- For "Black and Gold" - McDermid, Robertson, McLeod; for "Whites" - French, Travers, and W. K. Jackson (two).
In a five-a-side match, a "junior" team beat a "senior" team by the only goal.
In a sprint confined to footballers, the final resulted:- Walter Jackson (Aberdeen), 2 A. Reid (Aberdeen), 3 J. Smith (Aberdeen), 4 G. French (Morton).
