Aberdeen's Problems Unsolved
WHILE Aberdeen recovered from the shock of an early goal by Raith Rovers in their friendly game at Pittodrie and won comfortably, the Dons' experiments were not particularly successful.

One newcomer who did show well, however, was Jimmy Owens, the Inverness Thistle inside left.
Although he was far from happy on the hard surface, he played well enough to suggest that in better conditions he would be a useful acquisition.
Aberdeen's problems persist. Massie got the chance to play himself into the right-back berth, but his positional play was poor and he gave Penman too much scope.

Baird, Williams Fit

Roy, at centre half, made no serious mistakes, but lacked polish. Taylor was the Dons' best half back, although both he and Cowie compared badly with Till, the Raith right half.
Most satisfactory from a Pittodrie point of view was the fact that Baird and Williams have made a complete recovery from their injuries and will be fit for the Cup-ties.
Penman, standing unmarked, gave Raith the lead after seven minutes, and it was almost on the half-hour before Baird equalised.
Two minutes from half-time Williams scored with a header from Roy's free kick.
Midway through this period the 'keeper had a great save from Williams at the expense a corner. From Millar's flag kick the South African shot first time and the ball was deflected into the net by Brady.
