ALL TOO EASY FOR DUNDEE
Dundee 2, Aberdeen 0. (Aggregates 3-1.)

Dundee had no need to reproduce their Hibs form in the second leg of the Inter-City Cup match at Dens Park yesterday afternoon.

They won fairly comfortably against an Aberdeen side which was weak in every department except goal.
The strong, blustery wind, which played tantalising tricks with the ball, made things difficult. But Dundee, with their along-the-ground football, did much to combat the elements. By contrast the Dons didn't have a plan. And not one visiting forward had a shot worthy of the name.

Penalty missed

Dundee didn't get near the Aberdeen goal until the seventh minute, but from then on they seldom left it. After a quarter of an hour Flavell was fouled in the box by Mitchell. The centre took the kick himself, but Martin kicked his shot away.
After Martin had made a brilliant one-handed save from Flavell, Gallacher scored in 30 minutes.
Flavell lobbed a high one into the goalmouth. Mitchell and Christie jumped for it, but both missed. Gallacher met the ball on the bounce, and almost burst the net with a left-foot shot.
So it went on until the interval, with the Dons' defenders making desperate clearances, and Hather and Hay doing all Aberdeen's shooting in occasional breakaways.
The second goal came eight minutes after half-time. Flavell took a quick throw-in on the left, and Christie crossed for Henderson to head into the net.
Penalty No. 2

The Dons then had fleeting spells of pressure, but Henderson was in grand form. He capped a errand display by saving a penalty from Hamilton in the 24th minute. That save spelt the end of Aberdeen's hopes, and the closing minutes Dundee came near to adding to their total.
