Dons Draw at Ibrox
Aberdeen made a gallant bid to stop Rangers' successful run in the North-Eastern League at Ibrox Park on Saturday. The Dons took the lead in the first half and hung onto it grimly until the closing stages of the game. The Pittodrie defence once again played magnificently and but for an injury to Dunlop early in the second half they might well have succeeded in holding out.

Late Start

The game was sixty-five minutes late in starting owing to the late arrival of the Aberdeen team. The players had to rush from the station to the ground and on to the field - not the best of preparations for an important game. The clubs agreed to play forty minutes each way. The Dons held the balance of play in the first half and took the lead in twenty-two minutes. Kerr, out of his charge, could only pull down a cross from Dickie and McCall headed into the net. All traffic led to the Aberdeen goal in the second half. Rangers threw everything into attack, but the Pittodrie defence might have held out but for the injury to Dunlop. The equaliser came fourteen minutes from the end. A terrific drive by Grant struck the crossbar and McKillop smartly headed into the net.

Defence Sound

The Dons' defence came out of the game with full honours. Outstanding was Lyon at centre-half, who put up a magnificent display. There is still a big question mark after the attack. Gilmartin (Hibs), on the right wing, did not prove a success, and Fleming (East Fife), who led the attack, got too little support to prove his worth. McLeod and McCall on the left wing, were not particularly impressive and the liveliest member of the line was Dickie.
