Closing Burst - Dons Snatch Victory
The 7300 spectators at Pittodrie on Saturday probably did not set much to enthuse over in the North, Eastern League game between Aberdeen and Rangers, but that final burst by the Dons in the closing minutes, when they snatched the winning goal, compensated for the lack thrills. The Dons won by the odd goal in three.

For a long period it looked as if Rangers would be victorious by the goal scored by McIntosh ten minutes after the interval. Then the homesters equalised through Pattillo. It was a well-taken goal, but Ferguson deserves credit for the way he registered the winning point.
A draw would have been a good and fair result under the conditions. The players worked hard, but ball control was absolutely out of the question. Under the circumstances it would be unfair to criticise the teams.
The Dons had the assistance of McKenzie, their old player, who went from Pittodrie to Ayr United.
Only Dunfermline Athletic and Hearts took full points from the New Year programme.
