The Dons were a mixture good and bad Saturday, when they beat Dunfermline Athletic by 4-1 at Pittodrie in a Northeastern League game.
The score flattered the Dons slightly. They had a very bad spell for twenty minutes after the interval, when their display was listless, and had the visitors equalised, then there might have been a surprise result. However, the homesters staged a grand revival in the last quarter.
The Athletic were fighters all the time, but they failed to take advantage of the Dons' lapse after the interval. It has to taken into account, too, that they fielded three juniors.
It was not a cleanly contested game. Offences were committed which did not reflect credit on certain players of both teams.
The Aberdeen defence was good but not so reliable as usual. Johnstone did well in goal. He was well protected by Cooper and Dyer, but the half-backs, although very clever at times have often done better.
Th eattack impressed in the first half, but was unballanced after the interval. Dryden and Pattillo were best, while Ferguson occasionally made clever use of the ball.
The Junior in the Dunfermline goal gave a creditable display. Cameron was a grand back, and Walker a fine forcing half. mcGilvray and Neill took the honours forward.
