DONS IN CUP FINAL |
 |
FOR the second year in succession Aberdeen are in the final of the North-Eastern League Supplementary Cup competition. They won the trophy last season, beating Dundee united in the final.
Now they meet Dunfermline Athletic, who ousted Rangers. In the semi-final the Dons defeated Raith Rovers by 11-3. Ihey won 6-2 at Kirkcaldy and 5-1 at Pittodrie.
Rovers were no match for the Pittodrie team. On Saturday the Dons played football of a very high class. Their opponents floundered about, with little idea of the finer points of the game, and certainly lacking a constructive plan.
Every man in the Aberdeen team played to form, but Ancell is worthy of special mention. Here is a player who, a few seasons ago, played left back for Scotland. Dyer has been doing so well for the Dons at left back that could not be left out of the team.
Ancell was asked, and readily agreed, to play outside right. He has been an outstanding success.
Dunfermline beat Rangers, but they will find the Dons no easy nut to crack.
