Penalty Sees Dons Through
ABERDEEN have still a chance of winning the post in the race for the championship of the North Eastern League. Rangers only drew Kirkcaldy, and the Dons' home victory by the odd goal in five over Dunfermline Athletic leaves the Ibrox and Pittodrie teams still level in points.

Everything points to a thrilling game when Rangers come to Aberdeen on April 22. The championship may be settled on that date.
The Dons had nothing to crow over In their defeat of Dunfermline. It was a penalty goal which gave them the points. They deserved to win, but they were only a moderately good side. There will have to a very big improvement when the teams meet again in the League Cup at Pittodne on Saturday.
The Aberdeen defence was none too steady. There was too great tendency to seek the assistance of Johnstone by passing back to him. This cost the Dons a goal. Thomson and Dyer were none too reliable at times. Gavin played tremendously hard, and showed fine anticipation. Anderson impressed in the first half, but after the interval was inclined to be erratic in his passing. Taylor got through a lot work, and excelled in constructive play.
Forward, Ancell and Bryden were lively wingers. Pattillo would have got goals had he been better supported. He had to do a lot of foraging on his own. His general play was good. Bremner was evidently none too fit from the start, while Armstrong, although clever in midfield at times, did not shoot often enough.
The Athletic's outstanding player was Dean in goal. He had several magnificent saves. Hogg was the better back, and Forbes outstanding at half. Forward, Harrower, Hunter and Houliston were best.
