Wee Dons Vital goal
After losing by one goal to nil in the first leg of the League Cup at Motherwell, we got ample revenge by beating them 4-2 at Pittodrie in the Second Leg. Motherwell have got some very good young players in their line up and they are helped a lot by the experienced Stewart Rennie in goal and midfield player Jimmy O'Rourke. He has a lot of experience and he is putting it to good use. Also on the Motherwell staff are Reserve Coach Wilson Humphries the ex-St. Mirren manager and former player Billy Campbell.
Andy Watson put us level on aggregate when he volleyed the ball home, after Doug Rougvie had headed down an Ian Gibson corner kick. Doug Brown scored our second from a fine Joe Smith pass. Motherwell scored just before the interval when a mistake by our goalkeeper, let the outside right in to score. Motherwell put us under quite a bit of pressure after the break, but after a fine run by Alex Grant, Brown was on hand to put the cross into the net.
The visitors hit back and scored a good goal to level the score, but Dougie Brown got his hat-trick when he scored from the spot, after Ian Gibson had been brought down.
