Venue: Chanonry, Aberdeen
A Friendly at Chanonry.
Both teams having a blank day, the Vics and Aberdeen arranged to play a friendly. The weather was anything but favourable to a finished display, but nevertheless a good crowd turned out to witness the encounter. Vics won the toss, but, strange to say, decided to play against the gale during the first half. Aberdeen started, and scored a few minutes later. Another was put to their credit soon afterwards. The play grew slightly more even, and Vics got a corner. A penalty was awarded against the Blues. J. Mackie took the kick, but Findlay saved brilliantly. Before half time Aberdeen increased their lead to 4, while the Vics failed to score.
On restarting Vics took up the running, and gradually drew even. Aberdeen paid a surprise visit to Findlay which ended in the Whites scoring a fifth time. Vics redoubled their efforts, and before time once more got on level terms, and the game ended in a draw of 5 goals each.

Short Kicks.

The interest in the Vics v. Aberdeen game was well sustained all through. The Whites played a good game throughout. Joe Davidson played at back instead of John.
Findlay came out strong in goal for the Vies. He got deservedly cheered for his saving of the penalty. J. Mackie was for once unsuccessful.
Aberdeen have Montrose at Chanonry on Saturday. The Whites should just scramble through.
Aberdeen have been warned that they will have to quit Chanonry at the end of this season.
Time was when the good old Whites were the only team worth going to see, and in the old days most of the south cracks paid Chanonry a visit some time in the season.
We never quite favoured the Aberdeen turning professional, and do not consider even yet they are a much improved team.

These teams met in an ordinary match at Chanonry, Aberdeen. A strong wind was blowing, and seriously interfered with the play. Teams: Aberdeen: Ritchie; McConnachie, Joe Davidson; Mackie, Henderson, Thomson; Livingstone, Gray, Mackay, Clark, Shiach. Victoria United: Findlay; McNeil, Allan; Dundas, J. Ritchie, McKenzie; McPherson, Burnett, McIlvenny, Henderson, J. Ritchie. Aberdeen elected to play with the wind, and almost immediately scored. A second goal followed in a few seconds. The Blues now got on their mettle, but a, fruitless corner was the only result. What seemed to be a certain goal for the Whites was beautifully saved by Finlay. After some play, during which the ball hovered dangerously near the Blues' line, the Aberdeen were awarded a penalty kick, but Mackie failed to do the needful. The Aberdeen, however, obtained their third point almost immediately after. An exciting scramble took place at the Blues? citadel, but the United were equal to all emergencies. After some midfield play the Aberdeen had a fourth point off the outside right. Half-time score: Aberdeen 4, Victoria United 0.

The Victoria started the second half, and after some mixed play, in which Aberdeen citadel was occasionally in jeopardy, the Blues Scored a goal off a stinging shot from McPherson, and another almost immediately followed off Burnett. Play in midfield again followed, but a point soon fell to the United off Henderson. A penalty awarded to the Blues did not produce any result. Shortly afterwards Henderson obtained the equalising point from the right. Aberdeen, after some excitement, obtained the leading point off Mackie, but the score was quickly equalised by Burnett.
