Orion 0 - 1 Hibernian
Kick Off:
Attendance: 0
Venue: Cattofield, Aberdeen
The Orion's game with Hibs on Friday turned out a huge farce. The state of the ground rendered play almost impossible. The time of play was curtailed, and both spectators and players were greatly pleased when the whistle sounded. The Hibs scored once, but Orion failed to pierce the defence.

These teams met at Cattofield last night in miserable weather, the match being played in a steady downpour of rain. The attendance was very poor. The teams were: Hibernians: McWattie; McFarlane, Murphy; Breslin, Nelson, Robertson; Macdonald, Grant, Gallagher, Atterton, Murray. Orion: Watson; Ross, Low; Macbean, Low, Currie; Stephen, Leggat, Hogg, Murphy, Barron. Mr Peter Simpson, Aberdeen, was referee. On account of the strangers having to leave for Edinburgh by an early train, only half an hour was played each way. Gallagher kicked off, but Low intercepted, and the Orion got well up. The Hibs retaliated, and finally scored through Grant. Both custodians were called out in turn. With a tricky run, Hogg got within shooting distance, but the parting shot failed. Orion continued to have the best of matters, though the Irishmen's play was better timed and more accurate. Half-time score: Hibernians, 1 goal: Orion, nil.

Orion resumed with vigour. Play was very seldom in midfield, but alternated rapidly from end to end. Both teams were strong in combination but weak in shooting. The visitors' forwards gave several very pretty exhibitions of the short passing game, but they were evidently in holiday form. Orion were unfortunate in not equalising. Final score: Hibernians, 1; Orion, 0.
