Young Dons Draw At Kynoch Park
The Reserves made a disappointing first appearance at Keith on Monday night, drawing 1-1 with the Highland League side. The fact that they lacked match practice was an acceptable excuse for the edge being missing from their play but their general ball control also left a lot to be desired. They've been working hard on this since Monday and we're looking for a big improvement at Dens Park today.
The Reserves' goal at Keith was scored by Ian Hair who had quite a useful first game in Aberdeen colours. Big, strong and clever, he is one to look out for when the Young Dons play their first fixture at Pittodrie next Wednesday night against Clyde.
Another newcomer to Pittodrie during the close-season is Willie Miller, a well-built centre. He replaced Ian Hair in the last 30 minutes and showed some good touches.
An earlier substitution brought on John Craig for Billy Williamson. John has had his training restricted by a shoulder muscle injury but he came through this test satisfactorily. Strong men in our defence were Chic McLelland and Tommy Wilson who carried on where the. left off last season with first-class performances. Andy Geoghegan had little to do in goal but his use of the ball was good. The drive of deputy centre half George Murray was missed at wing half.
Now that they have got the rust out of their system I am confident that the Young Dons once again be one of the leading reserve sides this season. I look for them to confirm this opinion by heading their Reserve League Cup qualifying section.
