WITH SEVEN points from their last four games, the Young Dons are enjoying their best spell in this season's Reserve League championship. Two weeks ago they produced a first-class performance at Parkhead to complete a notable double over Celtic A. Last Saturday's opponents, East Fife A did not pull the best out of the Pittodrie team, who, all the same, were well worth their 2.0 win. It is a fair reflection on the game that Andy Geoghegan. returning to action after another broken-finger lay-off, did not have a single direct shot to save. He received sounder cover from John Craig, Tommy McMillan and Chic McLelland.
George Buchan worked hard until a knee injury reasserted itself 15 minutes into the second half. George it was who opened the scoring in the seventh minute after good work by our trialist inside forward Bobby Street of juvenile side Port Glasgow Rovers. Bobby got both goals against Celtic A and he put his name on the score sheet again in the 64th minute against East Fife A. He shot home a pass from Port Glasgow Rovers team-mate John McMaster, who was given a run on the left wing. Both lads had trained with us during the week.
Joe Smith, who had a good game at Park-head, went off the boil again, but Jimmy Miller again played well on the right wing. We've been weak on this flank throughout the season, but Jimmy looked at home in his new berth for him. To accommodate McMaster at outside left, Ian Purdie was tried as a link man, but he is obviously of more value out on the wing.
