After the first Dundee United game, Aberdeen consolidated their Premier Reserve League position with a 4-2 win over Motherwell at Fir Park.
In an exciting game of rapidly fluctuating fortunes, Michael Watt had to be in top form to deny Motherwell's early efforts, and when Ian Downie forming a promising striking partnership with Scott Thomson, opened the scoring rather against the run of play, 'Well equalised almost immediately.
Motherwell took a 2-1 lead after the interval, but it was then Aberdeen's turn to reply immediately, Thomson levelling matters with his fourth goal in five successive Premier Reserve appearances. Further Aberdeen goals came from Graeme Ferguson and Colin MacRonald to complete an excellent second-half display by the young Dons.
