One of the comparatively rare East Rserve League fixtures at Pittodrie on Monday, 7th October, saw Aberdeen beat Brechin City 6-0 with Andy Gibson claiming his second hat-trick of the season. This brought Andy's goal tally this season to 16 goals in 14 appearances and he has found the net in all but four of those games.
Gregg Watson, Colin Milne and Ian Downie were the other other Aberdeen marksmen against a weaker than usual Brechin side which included several trialists. One of these was Graham Lawrie, who had a brief spell on the Pittodrie staff a couple of seasons ago before moving on first to Highland League club Keith and subsequently to Burnley.
The game against Brechin also saw Derek Adams, son of Peterhead manager George Adams, make his competitive debut for his father's former club when he appeared as a substitute for Andy Roddie.
