In sharp contrast to the recent success of the second team, Aberdeen's third team this week suffered their first defeat in eight East Reserve League outings when they went down to Dunfermline at East End Park on Tuesday afternoon.
A comperehensive defeat it was too, the Fifers finishing on top by a 3-0 margin!
The young Pittodrie side found themselves up against more experienced opponents, but they also contributed to their own downfall with a disappointing performance, particularly in the matter of making basic defensive mistakes.
The game was only in its first minute when a faulty pass-back allowed Dunfermline to take a morale boosting lead and put the visitors at a corresponding disadvantage.
Still a goal down at the interval, Aberdeen had their hopes of a recovery dashed when early in the second half a 25 yard shot from Jamie McCarron struck the Dunfermline crossbar and the 'keeper gathered the rebound.
Aberdeen used both substitutes in an effort to change the pattern but further slackness in defence cost them two more goals.
