At Arbroath, another 3-1 victory was recorded, a result which gave particular satisfaction as an earlier visit to Gayfield this season ended in a 4-2 defeat.
This time round, Andy Roddie struck twice in the opening 10 minutes, followed later in the first half by a goal from Scott Booth, given a third-team outing to keep him sharp.
Aberdeen's excellent first half performance was marred only by Arbroath being gifted a goal just on the interval, but playing into a stiff wind in the second half, the Pittodrie youngsters lost some of the control on the proceedings they had exercised in the first half. Happily, there was no further scoring.
