Aberdeen U20s up and down pre-season campaign continued with a defeat this evening in Turriff. The Highland League side, who are certainly one of the better teams in the league, ran out deserved winners and former Dons hero Darren Mackie managed to get himself on the scoresheet.
The teams went in level at the break after a tight first 45 minutes but Latvian defender Artjoms Kuznecovs broke the deadlock right at the start of the second period when he headed home a corner. Kuznecov then added a penalty five minutes later before half-time substitute Mackie added a third just before the hour mark. A young Dons side competed well for most of the game but were undone by a poor twelve minutes.
Polish youngster Nikolas Wozniak added a fourth before Aberdeen responded with a goal through Lawrence Shankland after he was set up by Frank Ross. In the closing stages the Dons did create a few more opportunities but were unable to find the net again.
