Only a small number of spectators assembled at Pittodrie Park on Saturday to witness a friendly game between Aberdeen University and Aberdeen. Mr. A. Cowie, Aberdeen, was referee, and the teams were:- University: M'Owat; McHardy, Adams; Sorley, Sangster, Gourlay; Petrie, MacDonald, Smith, Esson, Sutherland. Aberdeen: Bisset; Walker, Drummond; Mackie, Thomson, Murphy; Barron, Breslin, Singers, Woodlock, Shiach.
Aberdeen had at once to set on the defensive, and for some time were kept in their own half of the field, but at length the right wing bore down on M'Owat. McHardy relieved, however, and the students were again directing their attention towards Bisset. Through bustling play by Thomson, the ground team were enabled to get within shooting range, and the custodian effected a clever save from Breslin. The men from the University reasserted themselves, and after being disallowed a goal for offside, Sutherland scored with a low curling shot. Aberdeen were hemmed in by their opponents, who showed surprising energy, and not toll near the end did they again have a chance, but they could not score.
On resuming play opened faster and ruled evener. Aberdeen settled down to a siege, and were unfortunate in not equalising. The 'Varsity again invaded, and caused Bisset some anxiety. The attack was repelled. Aberdeen equalised through Breslin, who capped a fine single-handed run with a smartly taken goal. Aberdeen maintained their pressure, and but for bad finishing might have gained the lead. As time drew near, both elevens made efforts to secure the winning goal, but the game ended in a draw of one goal each.
